Accessories For Stairlifts

You should know what accessories you need when looking at a stairlift. For example if the stairlift may just be used indoor, it wouldn’t hurt to purchase a seatbelt for your stairlift for additional safety for the people who are going to use it. Now, there are two types of seatbelts available for stairlift products. The first one is used to strapped your laps and stairlift companies dub it as inertia reel lap harness. Sounds so technical, doesn’t it?

Seatbelts – You do understand why in airplanes, the flight crew always asks you to fasten your seatbelts, don’t you? Or why whenever you’re about to ride a roller coaster, harnesses are automatically locked down to keep you on your seat? And why everywhere you go, there’s always a road sign that asks you to wear you seatbelt? It’s for your own safety!

And though the stairlift may just be used indoor, it wouldn’t hurt to purchase a seatbelt for your stairlift for additional safety for the people who are going to use it. Now, there are two types of seatbelts available for stairlift products. The first one is used to strapped your laps and stairlift companies dub it as inertia reel lap harness. Sounds so technical, doesn’t it?

But like I said, it mainly makes sure that you’re as safe as possible. The second type of seatbelt is used for your shoulders. Ready for more technical mumbo-jumbo? Okay, it’s called static type, three point fixing over shoulder harness.

Sit And Stand Frame – Now, there are some prickly elderly people who don’t want to show any signs of weaknesses so they prefer to stand while they’re using the stairlifts. But then there are those who don’t want to needlessly exert effort and so they prefer to sit when they they’re using the stairlifts. But what if you have both types of people living in your house?

Well, that’s when a sit and stand frame comes in handy. But in relation to health complications, a sit and stand frame would be advisable for those with bending problems (stand) and those with weak knees (sit).

Hinged Rails – Maybe you’ve never heard of feng shui so you designed your house with the stairs right next or just a step away from the main door. And now that you’ve the need for a stairlift product installed in your home, you realized that the lower part of the rail is quite an obstruction and makes it hard for people to enter the house.

If this is the situation in your house, you definitely need hinged rails for your stairlifts because it allows you to fold the lower part of the rails when nobody’s using it.
Bridging Platforms – This type of stairlift accessory is best for houses with curved staircases.

Power Footrest – This stairlift accessory is purchased for the comfort and safety of the passenger. When the passenger has no one to help him as he gets on the stairlift, he might encounter problems especially when he has a hard time bending. Having a footrest installed naturally would eradicate that. Secondly, if the passenger has a long way to go from first to second floor, a footrest would provide more comfort of course.
