The Various Kinds of Stair Chair Lifts
Stair chair lifts are equipments that are designed to follow the path of a stair case. They are commonly battery operated and have controls. Stair lifts can be set up as soon as it was bought. You can dispose of them as well if you find that there is no need for them anymore. Here we will look at the four kinds of stair chair lifts.
The first kind of stair lift is the seated variety. These machines are commonly found in homes. This kind of stair chair lift is the perfect one for your mobility problem if you can walk by yourself but could not manage to go up and down the stairs. If you have crutches, the seated stair lift is likewise perfect for you. This kind of lift must let you use it without the help of another person as much as possible. The seated stair lift consists of a swivel chair and armrests which could be lifted up to assist you in conveniently transferring to and from the seat. Seat belts will provide more security to a seated stair lift.
Another kind of stair lift is the standing variety. This machine is designed for people who can walk, stand, or aided by a walking stick but finds it difficult to move up and down the stairs by themselves. If your legs are stiff or in a cast or if you cannot bend your knees, then standing stair lifts can come in handy. Likewise, this is also perfect for narrow staircases. Guard rails provide added safety for its users.
The perching stair chair lift is similar to the standing variety. The only difference is that it has a small seat where you can lean on while the equipment is moving up or down the staircase. The perching lift is the right equipment if you need to support your back but need not be entirely seated. Likewise, it is ideal for staircases that are narrow. Guard rails can keep you secured.
A wheelchair lift is the equipment designed to transport people with handicap up and down stairs. There is no need to get out from the wheelchair. The handicapped individual will just have to roll into the platform and control the stair lift. It is clear that wheelchair lifts are not space saving and you should have a wide staircase. However, the platform is foldable.
There are other kinds of stair lifts but most of them adopt the names of the company that designed them and differ only in their amenities. For instance, a lift that is used outdoors is an exterior stair lift.
With stair chair lifts, moving up and down stairs need not be a problem.
