Stair Lifts by Access Industries
Access Industries is a leading provider for handicapped consumers for almost sixty years. It is one of the oldest companies in Australia in serving the needs for the disabled population. The company started in 1949 as one group formed by people with disabilities. The first name of the group was CMLA which stood for Civilian Maimed and Limbless Association. The group started out as a support group in their community for the members who have disabilities that were not caused by rendering service during the war. The goal was to create one organization that will be controlled by the disabled members.
The organization grew and become a company producing many types of stair lifts in five decades and it continues to evolve. It was just a few years ago that ThyssenKrupp acquired the company. A merger of the products of the two companies happened. There were some products that were not produced anymore and most were combined to the other models. Many people today want to save some money so they end up buying used stair lifts and that is alright because some older models from Access are still being produced today. The following units and parts are still produced and are readily available in the market today:
1. The Stairglide - The design of this unit is patterned after the former unit named Cheney. This stair lift has a rack that runs on AC and it has a railing system placed on one i-beam. It comes in the curved design for curved staircases and straight ones for straight stairs. The units are still produced so consumers can still buy the spare parts.
2. The Silverglide – This unit is driven by the cables. It is one of basic models. It does not need electricity but it can always be relied upon even if it appears to be very rugged. This unit is considered one of the best for heavy use. This u nit has a straight railing but it can be reversed from one side to the other. This model also comes with a back up power system on batteries.
3. The Excel – This unit can be bought in DC models and AC models The DC units however always need the cable connected to the charger while it travels. This model is no longer produced however the components are still manufactured. This is also a unit that can be reversed from one side to the other.
4.Select – This is another basic stair lift model that is no longer produced. This model is available in both DC and AC systems. The track of Select is almost the same as the track for the Excel however the rack that can be found in the track is totally different.
