The Stannah Company is a leading maker of stair lifts. They are constantly updating their designs to give more consumers more choices. One of the common suggestions people say is to improve the style of the units. It is a known fact that stair lifts are devices that have less style and more of functionality. To produce a unit that would have a better style Stannah formed a team of designers to update the product. The team came up with the brand new chairs called Sofia and Solus.

The design won a major award held for an exhibition in Europe. The chairs designed are applicable for the straight staircase as well as curved ones. The good style is also coupled with exciting features. The chair can be folded and the remote control already has the up and down keys as well as the lock button. This makes the chair more user friendly.

The Sofia and Solus actually have equal features however there don’t have the same quality for upholstery. To have an innovative design the new models Solus and Sofia have the following:

1.folds automatically – Both units can just be lifted up on the armrest and the unit along with the footrest will fold in an automatic fashion. This is a helpful feature since people don’t need to move and bend when folding the unit at the end of the staircase which should be placed preferably on top.

2.The control pad has every control in it. The control can be found on the armrest. This was made as a helpful feature to people who are not into the technical side of the product. The user just needs to push the unit upwards for it to climb up and push down so it will go downstairs. The top of the control can turn off the unit and it can be taken away so the whole unit gets locked automatically. This feature is essentially helpful when you have young kids around.

3.The sensor for the load capacity of the seat – The control pad will not operate unless the passenger is safe and secure. If you want to use it for to carry a smaller load like a basket the remote located on the landing should be used.

4.The Sofia and Solus seatbelt does not hold the user on the hips like most stairlifts. This feature is retractable. It is mounted close to the end of an armrest which can be pulled with just one hand and after pulling it will latch itself into a hole located on the other armrest.

5.The upholstery is updated. The design for Solus model gives more of the modern appeal. Customers can choose from four kinds of fabrics that have been woven or two choices of vinyl in different colors. The texture of the vinyl is very soft.

Each unit is the tested before releasing them to the market. The units should pass the full capacity of the load it can carry for ten years. The motor should also pass the test and should last for twenty years.
