This mechanism though adds more cost to the final price of the product.

The position where to park the stair lift can be a problem for some. For those with curved staircase parking is not a problem but on the straight staircase most people choose to park the unit at the lower landing. The units usually take up a space measuring twenty seven inches. There are many people who have a misconception that the stair lift’s rail still continues at the landing on top. The truth is the unit is still in the staircase. For a track with a hinge there may be a portion where the stair lift can be parked because it can be parted going up. Many stair lifts can be folded from fourteen inches up to fifteen inches of space but if there are kids living in the house a unit with the narrowest fold should be ideal.
