Price of Stairlifts Does Matter

Stairs can be the most dangerous part in most houses. For elders, the danger of a fall on the stairway has significantly increased, with the great number of severe accidental injuries happening on the stairs. Since staircases can be so hazardous, it is extremely crucial to find ways to stop or at least lessen the risk of a fall. As a result, most people are now utilizing stairlifts to avoid themselves from accidents.

Stairlifts were first developed in the early 20th century. Since then, stairlifts have improved a lot and have developed into great safety tools, proficiently moving a person between the floors of a home. In many cases, a chair is connected to a metal track that runs through the staircase. The track can be connected to the wall but it is more commonly connected directly to the stairs. Then, the chair moves up and down the track, carrying a disabled or an elderly individual. In this way, rather than walking, the person is carried up and down the stairs without having afraid to fall.

Normally, the stairlift price for straight stairs will amount to $1400 up to $2500. However, this stairlift price can vary depending on the features and model to be selected. These stairlifts are powered electrically and some of them include rechargeable batteries, so the lift can continue working even in the absence of electricity. Basically battery powered stairlifts are a bit expensive.

As for a straight stairway, the stairlift price will not typically amount to more than $2500. The stairlift price for curved stairways is a lot more expensive since it usually cost to about $10,000 or even more. The reason for the varied cost between the lift for straight and curved staircase is the track that will need to custom built to suit the staircase.

The stairlift price for custom built do not only cost a lot to make, but it also requires quite a number of months to finish. Normally, straight stairlifts can be bought, transported and installed in not more than a week. The curved one on the contrary, will normally take a month or two or even more to be manufactured and installed.

Moreover, it is not basically possible to install a curve stairlift all by yourself. You need to employ a number of people for it to be installed completely onto your stairs. That’s another expense! But it can be worth all of it, if you are from the start more reasonable and practical with the stairlift price.
