Long History of Hiro Stair Lifts
Hiro is a company providing countries with solutions for accessibility or mobility. They have been in the business for more than one hundred years. They continuously innovates their products and develop more by incorporating technology. Hiro was established on October 1, 1897 in Germany. It was located in Bielefeld where the main office still lies. They have been creating different kinds of lifts for many years. Today there are several lifts made by Hiro you can find in different countries all over the world.
In the 1920’s Hiro created the first lift made of ropes which can carry passengers. These types of lifts were first operated manually. This was also the first time that an automatic machine is used to stop the rope system which controls the lift. During the next decade the company began to make lifts with the rope system but using gasometer to run the operation. This type was very complex because it has to maintain a platform that is lowered by the rope depending on the gas level.
The forties came and the company started producing more elevators, lifts for products and lifts for the hospitals for Germany. In the fifties a hydraulic lift was offered to the market. In thirty years several of the hydraulic lifts were sold to many malls, buildings and apartments. More people are becoming aware of the need of a lift in a building.
In the sixties Hiro became more famous to other countries outside Europe because of the façade lifts which are used for lifting people who clean the windows of buildings. Some of the buildings include John Hancock and World Trade Center. They bought platforms that are able to turn around for a full three hundred sixty degrees. In the seventies a climbing elevator was introduced by Hiro for masts and cranes. In 1977 the company focused on creating lifts for people with disability and for the aged population. Hiro became known as a pioneer in stair lifts. Hiro was able to improve the old design of the stair lifts. In 1979 Hiro developed a worm segmented system for stair lifts and lifts that can accommodate wheelchairs.
In 1982 the first platform for wheelchairs were constructed. In the nineties Hiro developed the first traction driving system for lifts that are inclined. In 2003 HIRO created the Prestige which is an elevator for private homes. In the present time Hiro still continues to develop their products for home elevators.
