The aim of the company has always been in helping more people especially those with disability to live more conveniently. This vision is not new for the company. These goals started back in 1923 when the founder of the company, C.C. Crispen. He was a businessman who came from Pennsylvania. He invented the stair lift to help a friend with a disability to manage the stairs. Crispen thought of designing a product that would have a seat where his friend can climb the stairs without making too much effort. He was not an engineer but he was able to build the first stair lift prototype. It was just a chair that was inclined. He then named it the inclinator. He finished it in 1928.

They then produced that product commercially. The advertised and made it available for American consumers by 1930. They were the first company to offer such an innovation. Many of those who first used them were polio victims. Several people tend to overlook that the stair lifts they can buy in many shopping malls can be a helpful device that can improve the accessibility of a disabled member of the family. Not everyone can afford buying an elevator for the house however there are other alternatives like buying a stair lift.
