One of the founders of Summit is Mark Hill who worked for a major company offering stair lifts in the seventies. In 1981 a new employee came to work for that same company and Mark Hill met Mike Vogt. Vogt worked for the company for ten years in creating new designs for the stair lifts. Hill and Vogt wanted to stay in that company for good until they have to retire but then someone bought the company and took over the operations.

They then later joined with Mark Jackson who wanted to make stair lifts. Summit Company soon came after that. They then used CAD programs to make more designs.
